About NED, Inc.

The Northeast Economic Development, Inc. was created for multiple purposes, all of which have the primary function to assist in community and economic stability of the region thus enhancing employment and housing opportunities and public works of our region. The specific activities of NED, Inc. to achieve this mission are as follows:

Activities:

• Offer no interest loans to low-income families as down payment monies for the purchase of homes, thus providing homeownership opportunities to those who generally would not qualify for a conventional financing.
• Offer low interest and/or forgivable loans to low income families for restoration and rehabilitation of their homes.
• Offer grant writing services for public works grants to counties and municipalities in order to maintain, construct new and expand public works in the region, thus lessening these governments’ burden to do so.
• Offer assistance in identifying existing resources and developing new resources for communities to combat the deterioration of public facilities.
• Assist communities and organizations in the area attract new industry and business by:
  • Conducting research and providing statistics that enhance opportunities to recruit and retain business
  • Providing technical assistance and loans as gap financing for start-up microenterprises
  • Providing technical assistance to communities for the packaging of existing state and local incentives as to recruit an industry to its community
  • Developing marketing materials used to promote the community and region
• Conduct housing studies, blight studies, comprehensive plans, and redevelopment plans for communities
• Facilitate strategic planning processes in communities in order to develop long-term strategies for community and economic development
• Conduct entrepreneurial training courses (EDGE) to assist students in the development of business plans that will enable job creation activities in the region.
• Assist in the packaging of loans for regional, state and federal programs for start-up and expanding businesses
• Provide technical assistance to businesses requesting such services in business planning, market development, and financial management.
